The common traits to all the members of the kingdoms are as follows:
1. Composition: Cells compose all life, doing the activities essential for a species to thrive in its surrounding; even the most primitive of life forms, bacteria, comprise a single cell.
2. Use of energy: All the processes taking place inside a species, whether single-celled or multicellular, use energy. The procedure of utilizing energy, however, varies amongst the species.
3. Response: The species utilize their sense to attain information from and possess the tendency of responding to the stimuli in their surroundings.
4. Growth: Living things change and grow via the procedure of mitosis, or cell division. In the species comprising of more than one cell, mitosis either substitute the older ones that have ceased or either repair the damaged cells.
5. Reproduction: In order to continue existing, all the members of the species must possess the tendency to reproduce, that is, either sexually or asexually.
6. Adaptation: From the starting of life, the species have evolved and amended to survive on the basis of their surroundings. Those species that are not able to amend with the changing environments will die to would not be able to pass as much of their genes to the coming generations.
