1. Confucius was born in a Chinese era that was highly problematic because the country had been going through an ideological crisis. There were a lot of problems which caused a lot of strife and wars between various members of the society and there was no end in sight for any of this. Confucius had to spend his childhood in that era.

2. Although there is no precise way to know this because of lack of evidence, there are two theories regarding his childhood. One is that he was from a royal family with a long and an important lineage, while the other states that he was poor and his family had to move to various parts of China because of problems.

3. China was completely losing its identity because of political problems. The problems caused people to lose their traditional values and ties to China and its people and this caused a lot of problems in a country that was all about tradition. He thought about this often and wanted to see what could be done to help the people.

4. In his early career, he became a teacher in China. This was extremely important for his development because he started understanding that it was his life calling and that he enjoyed it and believed himself to have been born to teach others. By being a teacher, he could help reform the society and help everyone.

5. He started devising ideas about what is a good life and what a person should be doing to lead a good life and how that life would be beneficial for everyone. He also started getting radical ideas about the government and how it should function and how a government might be the best one for its people.

6. He believed that the country was in disarray because many of the smaller rulers went to wars against each other and he believed that it was necessary to create a strong central government in order to fix things. He believed this process should be done through diplomacy and not through violent revolutions like the others wanted.

7. The three families wanted to get more power and Confucius worked with them. The main fort where the royal family lived was surrounded by walls and Confucius managed to persuade the three families to raze the walls down because with the walls razed they could take power and make a centralized government.

8. The various rulers of an un-unified China disliked that he worked for Lu because they believed that Lu had become too powerful during Confucius and they wanted him gone. Other rulers welcomed him in their parts of China and they allowed him to teach but they did not implement political reforms that he wanted.

9. The death of his disciples was a bad event in Confucius’ life. He lost his son and lost his two disciples and this took a large toll on him. He died soon after this event and although it was from natural causes, it was seen in his behavior that he was in a bad place and was suffering because of the loss.

10. His influence was huge on all parts of China. Although many of his ideas did not get implemented during his age, his teachings were collected into a set of written material and became the foundation for governments to come. His legacy left a huge mark on China and its culture and a creation of a new tradition.
