Detrimental relationships are results of ineffective communication which is also a cause of conflict, this happens when (1) not talking things out, (2) not listening to the side of the other, (3) close-minded, (4) not explaining well, (5) not facing your responsibilities whether good or bad.

An effective relationship requires trust, team work, communication and respect for it to work and remain relevant and last.

But, a detrimental one is very toxic and causes harm to the people involved.

Therefore, there are several factors that contribute to a detrimental relationship such as:

  • Aggressive behavior
  • Lack of self esteem
  • Being violent.
  • Lack of social interaction.
  • Distrust.
  • Lack of communication.
  • Jealousy,

Lack of communication

In a relationship, there is supposed to be a proper communication where the partners talk about everything, their fears, likes, dislikes, decisions and all to pave way for a greater chance of having a successful relationship. It is a two-way thing.

Jealousy

Some say jealousy develops where there is lack of trust and lack of communication, it is quite to be agreed to. Partners should learn to talk about everything to bridge the gap of some of these vices that causes harm in an effective relationship.
