What happens to Madeline and Roderick?

Madeline is really dead.
Madeline enters the room after breaking out of
the tomb and dies, and Roderick dies immediately
afterward out of guilt.
Roderick locks himself in the tomb with Madeline
so they can die together.
Madeline comes into the room and strangles
