A patient is readmitted to the acute-care hospital from a long-term care facility for treatment of heart failure. He had an acute non-ST anterior wall myocardial infarction (MI) five weeks ago. He was placed in the intensive care unit and monitored on telemetry. He was also found to have urinary tract infection (UTI) due to Escherichia coli. After intense drug therapy, he continued to improve and was transferred back to the long-term care facility. The acute systolic and diastolic heart failure was improved, but she will be monitored.
