During the semester, we've been looking at aspects of jet and rocket propulsion, and some key performance metrics and design considerations. In this project, you are engineers tasked with defining the propulsion system for a novel passenger aircraft system. This system should deliver an overall thrust level at take-off which matches that of the Airbus A380 - a gem of a plane which is the largest passenger aircraft in use today. Your design should do the following: (i) Deliver 50% of the thrust at take-off from an air-breathing propulsion system (ii) Deliver 50% of the thrust at take-off from 10 solid rocket motors (jet-assisted take-off, or JATO).
