I believe that sharing information with the public can be both good and bad! Identity thieves, for example, target departments and organizations that have other people's personal information. However, cybercriminals tend to target someone's personal home computer, considering it is much simpler than breaking into a whole department with security and cameras (Cyber Crimes and Criminals - How Cyber Criminals Operate - the Carnegie Cyber Academy, n.d.). I bring these examples up, considering I do believe the pro to sharing new techniques and countermeasures with the public is being able to alert the public of new methods to defend themselves against the "bad guys". On the other hand, by sharing this data with the public, this is basically handing the criminal the script of how to try and break into a new tactic. Since this is a new tactic, many people will probably be using it, considering they see it as the new best protective layer, however, this will just make it that much easier for criminals to see the technique, find a solution to breaking it, and continue stealing data and other personal information!
