Amateur athletics is supposed to be untainted by money. College athletes participate in sports for the love of the game and an education. Is this the case, though? Considering that it is a gateway to the pros for some and a free education for some scholarship athletes, it should be a treasured opportunity. These student athletes though often have 30 hours on the field and serve as institutional ambassadors, public relations props, and fundraisers. Is it time we start paying college players?

b. Should College Athletes be paid (beyond NIL)? Why or why not? What do college presidents think about this?
c. What do athletic directors think? What do coaches think? If so, what do you suggest in terms of how to design a payment system (beyond NIL)? Should certain athletes or teams earn more than others (beyond NIL)? Should Division II, III, NAIA and other small college athletes receive payment? If not, is that fair?
