Discuss the value of mentors and their role in your academic and professional development. Many experts believe that mentoring is an important key to success, particularly for workers in the early stages of their careers. Mentors serve as guides, sources of knowledge, and can connect employees to others who may help advance their careers. Who do you consider a professional mentor? Describe the person who you turn to for advice, information, and/or leadership, particularly as it relates to work. What qualities does this person have that raises them to the position of mentor? How long have they been in your life? How have they helped you along in your work/career? For those of you who may not yet have had a mentor at work, you might want to consider a teacher who you remember as being particularly effective and helpful. What qualities made this teacher effective? Think about how that teacher communicated, their personality, and their level of preparedness when formulating your response.
