If a small group is an open system, then nonmembers, such as reporters, may attend meetings. It produces a high degree of interchange between the system and its environment. The group tends to degenerate (second law of thermodynamics). Some members are periodically replaced, such as is done in most standing committees. Additionally, external influences and feedback from the environment can shape the group's dynamics and decision-making processes.
