"detention." You have two chances to escape, based on rolling a pair of number cubes:
• roll doubles (the same number on both cubes) or
• roll a total of at least 9
There is a catch: You have to decide in advance to try for one way or the other.
Should you go for doubles, or a total of 9 or more? Justify your decision, using calculations.
