I have a question. I want to learn how to do the basic trig functions (sine , cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, cotangent) without a calculator . Do anyone know a formula an 11th grader can use to do this? I think I found one for sine but for some reason when I do it on paper/notes I get a different answer then the one on the calculator even though I did everything the same?
This is the formula I’m using for sine (look below)
Now when I put this in the calculator (let’s say sin 8) I get an answer similar to the one when you just type in sin 8. Yet when I did the calculations on paper and triple checked, it didn’t come up?
Using said formula, I get 5504/6964624 and when I divide them I get 0.0079028 on paper when sin 8 is 0.14 on calc (when I use the formula on calc, I get basically the same answer, as for everything else I tested out)
Am I just missing something in my calculations? I would like someone to help explain why I am getting a different answer or recommend another formula for me
