Imagine you had access to a stream table, water pump, sand, tubing, bucket, and any other props or instruments you request from your teacher. Your task is to outline a
plan for how you would conduct an investigation using a stream table to answer the question: How does an increased flow rate representing stormwater affect patterns of
erosion and deposition in the stream?
Your plan needs to include the following:
• The steps you would take to conduct the stream table investigation.
• Your steps should include enough detail for another student to read and be able to replicate your investigation.
• Data and observations you plan to measure and collect including why they are relevant to answering the question. For instance, what could you measure or observe to show
that an increased flow rate of water affected patterns of erosion and deposition in the stream?
Please note that you can adjust the flow of water coming from the pump into the tube at the top of the stream table.
• You can include additional materials in your investigation plan such as, but not limited to, a ruler or a camera/phone to take pictures.
• How you will evaluate the accuracy and precision of the data you collect
You may use the drawing tool(s) below to include sketch(es) to support your answer.
