The Colour of Friendship
"Once upon a time the colours of the world started to quarrel All claimed that they were the most important. the most useful and the best Green said. "I symbolise life, chosen for grass, trees and leaves Blue interrupted. "Well I am bigger I can be found all through the sky and the sea." Yellow chuckled "I bring warmth into the world - without me there would be no laughter or fun." Orange argued. "Well. I am the colour of the sun. and without the sun there wouldn't be any warmth at all." Red cried out "I am the colour of passion and strength. bravery and love. I must be the most important Purple replied. "I am the colour of royalty and that beats everything " Indigo had remained silent throughout this conversation He now spoke with a quiet. but commanding voice. "I am the colour of silence You hardly notice me. but I am always there" Then a voice thundered through some clouds that overshadowed the gathering Rain began to speak. "You foolish colours. fighting amongst yourselves - don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose. unique and different? I am going to unite you all and whenever I have washed the world clean of all the dirt that accumulates. I will see to it that you gather together as one and learn to appreciate and work together Mr Mandela rose from his seat. kissed each of his grandchildren goodnight and ambled off to bed
