as with the cockroaches, human populations cannot continue to grow exponentially; at some point, we will reach the carrying capacity of the planet. thus, the growth curve of all populations (humans included) will eventually approximate a logistic curve. that is, the population will increase exponentially until it reaches a point at which individuals in the population are affected by environmental constraints on their growth. at that point, the rate of growth declines until the population reaches carrying capacity, and the growth rate of the population reaches zero.
