My science class is pretty small. There are just 18 students in the class. My
teacher, Ms. Microbe, has an unusual system for pairing us up for labs. She
has given each of us a number from 1 through 18, and on lab days, she pulls
our numbers out of a bag to determine who is paired with whom. When we
did our last lab, I happened to notice that the sum of each person's number
with his/her lab, partner's number was a perfect square!
How were the partners assigned?
