His right arm and leg are broken, and he has a skull fracture above his right ear. Mr. Jenkins also complains of pain in the left upper and lower extremities. Dr. Printz, the emergency department physician, is assessing muscular functions by asking Mr. Jenkins to move his left arm straight out from the side of his body and then back down, then to turn the left palm up toward the ceiling and then down toward the floor.
