Imagine for a moment that there is an island nation where everyone, for as long as anyone can remember, lives in tree houses. Families share trees and extended families are close by. They don't spread out too much because population doesn't grow quickly, after all it takes a long time to build a nice tree house. Think of these areas where each family lives as its own state, with predetermined borders which have been agreed upon by all sides. They don't change much and each family must find what they need within their own border. One family, we will call them the Jones family, has a very bright daughter who comes up with some new ideas about how to build a treehouse. It is revolutionary. She quickly recruits her cousins to adopt her methods. Soon they are using tools to make their work easier and they are able to produce more tree houses than are needed for the population size that they have. Overtime, population grows to fill in the living space and the process repeats. Eventually, the Jones
family is running out of resources and space to keep building.

What options do they have?
