First off The author uses anaphoras when she says “you must always have faith”(woods,1) this phrase is repeated after punctuations showing that it’s an anaphora. The way author included it, helps us to understand one of the main messages of her speech that having faith in your self is one of the most important things. the repetition of this phrase at the beginning of sentences emphasizes how important it is to have faith.
Secondly the author uses parallelism when she says “it is with passion, courage of conviction, and a strong sense of self”(woods, 1) these phrases put together shows how all of them have the same level of importance, meaning they are all essentially important. The author uses this to tell us how all of those qualities are important to her and how she represents all of the qualities in herself. it also shows how others should also practice these qualities because they are important to have.
Overall, the authors use of these literally devices helps us to understand the main message of the speech, and the important qualities ell says we should have.
