Sally is planning to play the mega-thousands lottery. He gets to pick two digit-numbers (0 - 9), followed by an upper case letter from the English Alphabet (A-Z, i.e. 26 possible characters). The two numbers chosen do not have to be unique. Dan decides to pick 04C, and pays $5 to buy the ticket.
Assume that the lottery has a single draw chosen at random from all possible combinations of letters and numbers. The winnings are as follows:
Full Match (Both Numbers and Letter in order): $10,000
Number Match (Both Numbers in order): $500
Letter Match: $100
A winning ticket only earns the highest possible prize (i.e. a full match wins only $10,000)
