Hubble Trouble
In 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope was
positioned some 340 miles above Earth. It
began taking pictures of planets and stars
and sending them back to Earth. Soon a
problem was discovered, though. The main
mirror in the telescope was the wrong
shape, so the pictures were fuzzy.
Astronauts on the space shuttle Endeavour
were sent to fix the telescope in space. In
five space walks, the astronauts changed.
the telescope's camera and added another set of mirrors. Since then, the Hubble
Telescope has been taking amazing, clear pictures of the solar system.
