Project: Measuring Tall Structures

Create a PowerPoint presentation containing images (pictures, drawings, sketches) of three tall structures (buildings, statues, trees, etc.) in your neighborhood, community, or town. Without leaving the ground, you will calculate their height and include these measurements (both US customary units and SI) in your presentation. There are several techniques you can use to calculate the height of tall structures without leaving the ground involving the object’s shadow, a stick and geometry, and even a broom.
assignment Guidelines:
Your presentation should include:
a title;
a slide outlining the technique you used to measure the heights of the structures;
images of the three tall structures (if possible, you can include images of yourself in the field performing the measurements and calculations);
the heights of each structure in US customary units and SI;
the calculations you used to compute the heights;
a reference page.
Your project should be:
well-organized
contain appropriate language
contain proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling
contain information from credible sources
Submission Requirements:
Your project should be submitted electronically, double-spaced if it is a writing assignment, submitted by the due date set by the instructor, and original. If direct quotations are included, they should be cited. If you experience technical difficulties submitting your project, inform your instructor right away. Your instructor will explain how to name the files you submit.
