John Matthews, a 16-year-old driver, fails to pay attention to a vehicle stopped in front of him at
a stop sign and drives his car into the vehicle, causing property damage and personal injury to the
driver, George Smith. Smith sues Matthews for the damages Feeney sustained as a result of
Mathews' negligence. The case goes to court. When Matthews arrives at the courtroom on the
day of his trial he discovers that the judge in his case is going to be Smith's mother.
