Type 1 Diabetes is caused when the pancreas, an endocrine gland, no longer produces insulin. Insulin is needed to help glucose from food that is eaten to get into cells where it can be used to make ATP. Excess sugar (glucose) in the blood damages blood vessels so blood circulation gets get off.
