Experiment # 5. Osmosis in an Osmometer
Observe the demonstration. It is an osmometer with colored corn syrup (sugar) solution
inside the semi-permeable dialysis bag immersed into a beaker of pure water. The bag is
permeable to water, but not to the corn syrup. Watch the direction of the flow of water across
the membrane. Record your observations in the table below. Draw the results on a graph
paper using the x-axis for time and the y-axis for height. Make sure to label and include the
units of the axes. See Lab 1 for help in constructing graphs and the appendix for graph
paper.
