In November 2020, Proposition 25 was on the ballot. If passed CA would be the first state to eliminate cash bail and replace it with a risk assessment to determine if a suspect should be granted pretrial release and under what conditions. (Search for descriptions and look at both those who support it say and why, and those who oppose it say and why) - What did you think of this proposition? (READ IT!)
What do you think the impact of eliminating money bail would do to the system? Would it result in more people being kept in jail pending trial? If denied release would more defendants then plead out to get released? Would more defendants be released and commit more crime?
The final vote was 56% NO on this proposition and 44% yes.
